What goes wrong
Three failures we test for before bulk
- The 'set' arrives as three different looks. Tweed jackets use 4–6 button positions; mismatched tones across the set are visible from one metre and the garment looks cheap.
- Gold rims rub off at the buttonhole. The rim meets the fabric edge on every wear — a thin plating shows bare base metal within weeks.
- Too heavy for fine knitwear. A heavy metal-effect button drags the placket out of shape on a light tweed knit.
Each of these is a claim on your P&L, not a technical detail. We test the condition your care label specifies and put the result in writing before production starts.
Buyer questions
Tweed style — FAQ
Can you match buttons to our tweed fabric?
Send the fabric swatch. We propose a finish and tone under D65 light, you approve a physical set sample, and that set becomes the bulk reference.
Will the gold rim survive wear?
We rub-test the rim finish against the buttonhole condition and report the result. Where rim wear is a known risk we recommend an inset-rim construction instead of surface plating.
Can the set include different sizes in the same style?
Yes — most tweed programs use three or four sizes in one style. We build the full size run as one approved set so the tones stay identical.
Do you offer metal-free versions?
Yes. The resin range with metal-look finish is fully metal-free — relevant for nickel-restricted markets.
