What goes wrong
Three failures we test for before bulk
- Colour fades or bleeds in the first washes. A surface-dyed nut button loses tone at the edges and can mark a light shirt collar — the garment takes the blame.
- Buttons crack in dry or cold climates. Under-dried nut material splits after sea freight or in heated retail spaces, and the shortage shows up at your factory, not ours.
- Grain and tone vary between lots. Natural material varies; without an approved range sample every bulk lot becomes a negotiation.
Each of these is a claim on your P&L, not a technical detail. We test the condition your care label specifies and put the result in writing before production starts.
Buyer questions
Fruit & nut — FAQ
Are fruit buttons as durable as resin?
Through-dyed corozo is a hard, dense material — comparable in wear to resin. The failure mode we see is surface-dyed cheap stock, which is exactly what we do not use.
Will the dye bleed onto light fabric?
We run wet-rub and wash tests on every dyed lot. If your garment is light-coloured, tell us at inquiry — we test to that condition and confirm in writing.
Can you laser engrave a logo on nut buttons?
Yes — engraving shows as a clean dark mark on corozo. We send an engraved sample for approval before production.
What about natural tone variation?
You approve a range sample at the start; every lot is checked against it and out-of-range pieces are removed before packing.
